According to official introduction, Meta Quest 3 is the first VR device to be equipped with the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It also combines Meta's high-resolution display and Pancake optical technology, aiming to provide a smoother and more immersive VR gaming experience with clearer visuals.
In addition to that, the Meta Quest 3 is redesigned to be more lightweight, comfortable, and stylish compared to the Quest 2. The Touch Plus controllers are also modified with a streamlined appearance and ergonomic design. Also, with advancements in tracking technology, the external tracking rings are removed, allowing for more natural hand movements. Moreover, the Touch Plus controllers feature the new TruTouch haptic technology, which "unlocks experiences you can feel", and even allows users to upgrade to the fully self-tracking Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers for an enhanced experience.
It is worth mentioning that the Quest 3 will be compatible with over 500 VR applications and experiences from the Quest 2 library. Furthermore, there will also be more new VR games set to be introduced in the future, meaning that this device is bound to boast one of the best immersive experience VR libraries in the world. More information about the Quest 3 will be revealed at Meta Connect, which is scheduled to take place on September 27 this year.
Following the announcement of Quest 3, the Quest 2 will see a price reduction. Starting from June 4, the 128GB version will be priced at $299, and the 256GB version at $349.
