The TV anime adaptation of the Japanese light novel series The Apothecary Diaries, written by Natsu Hyuga, illustrated by Touko Shino, and with manga artwork by Nekokurage, has released its main trailer. More information about the series' voice cast and theme songs was also unveiled. The anime is set to premiere on October 12, 2023, and will broadcast the first three episodes in a row on its debut.
In The Apothecary Diaries, a young girl named Maomao, who is just 17 years old, has been kidnapped and forced to work as a servant within the ancient imperial court of China. Despite her circumstances, she perseveres with her inquisitive and pragmatic nature, determined to fulfill her duties until the end of her servitude.
Unexpectedly, Maomao stumbles upon the news that the emperor's twin infants have fallen seriously ill. Motivated by her background as a pharmacist raised in the poor red-light district, she resolves to take secret action to aid the ailing infants.
Although she intends to maintain her anonymity, her actions inevitably capture the attention of a powerful eunuch, thrusting her into the role of unraveling numerous mysteries within the imperial court.
