It has been over a year since the announcement of Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but the deal has yet to be finalized. The acquisition has faced regulatory scrutiny from the CMA, and Sony has also expressed concerns about potential market monopolies, citing the Call of Duty franchise as a possible example.
However, Lulu Cheng Meservey, the Chief Communications Officer and EVP of Corporate Affairs at Activision Blizzard, publicly stated on Twitter that Microsoft had offered Sony a 10-year agreement and guaranteed long-term publishing of the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation, which Sony persistently refused. She revealed that SIE's CEO Jim Ryan had responded during a closed-door meeting in Brussels, saying, "I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to block your merger.”
