The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual world and a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, today announced its unveiling of Lion City, the Singapore neighborhood in The Sandbox, at its inaugural Singapore Partner Day event.
Across the span of 9 months, The Sandbox local Singapore team has been planning and building a new neighborhood of 512 virtual LANDs in the decentralized virtual world, called the “Lion City” neighborhood. Lion City will showcase more than 30 different global and regional brands and IPs that represent Singapore’s culture through sports, fashion, entertainment, and technology alongside established Web3 natives to participate in The Sandbox metaverse.
Singapore, popularly known as the "Lion City," was picked as an anchor point for The Sandbox in the Southeast Asia region, given its reputation as a culturally rich and diverse business metropolis. The island nation has consistently positioned itself as a hub for innovation and Web3 advancements owing to its conducive regulatory environment for emerging technologies. Through Singapore’s supportive and collaborative ecosystem, companies will be able to explore new digital frontiers and test decentralized technologies.
With an aim to foster collaboration and innovation, the theme ‘Scaling Innovation’ sees The Sandbox bringing together, for the very first time, all Singapore ecosystem partners under one roof. The Lion City Partner Day serves as a dynamic platform for diverse industry partners to connect with the Web3 ecosystem, exchange ideas with innovators and gain strategic insights for the metaverse.
The event covered keynote presentations by the Co-Founder & COO Sebastien Borget and Head of Singapore George Wong which focused on opportunities within the metaverse, engaging panel discussions with key ecosystem partners, a product showcase and a lively networking session towards the end of the event.
During the Lion City Partner Day event, participants got to immerse themselves in The Sandbox metaverse with builds previously featured in past Alpha seasons. Attendees also got to meet-and-greet the talents behind the mesmerizing Alpha builds and interact with representatives of Web2 brands looking to establish themselves in the metaverse.
“The Sandbox team has laid the foundation for expanding Metaverse opportunities in Singapore by partnering with over 40 brands and IPs. Additionally, we have certified 8 local agencies and will continue to onboard new partners, positioning Singapore as a global hub in Web3 and the Metaverse. Through the creative use of NFTs, we aim to empower talented individuals and inspire new job opportunities. On our Singapore Partner Day, we introduced these partners, shared our long-term vision, and highlighted the Lion City as a cultural hub.” said Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder & COO, The Sandbox.
With over 400 global brands, including Singapore’s DBS Bank, already onboarded, The Sandbox’s Lion City will serve as a gateway and launchpad for Southeast Asia, opening up new Web3 possibilities in the region.
