SIE recently announced the acquisition of Firewalk Studios, which will be incorporated into PlayStation Studios, and has now started to invest heavily in developing a brand-new multiplayer AAA game for PlayStation.

In fact, Firewalk Studios had announced back in 2021 that they would collaborate with SIE on creating an original multiplayer IP, and this acquisition is believed to be Sony's affirmation of the studio's abilities. Its recent acquisitions of game studios, including Bungie, and Haven Entertainment, seems to indicate their ambitious plans in the multiplayer and service-type game market. Whether the final products will be impressive remains to be seen, but they are without a doubt highly anticipated.
