Created by Aneko Yusagi with illustrations by Seira Minami, the fourth season of the anime adaptation of The Rising of the Shield Hero was announced with a teaser visual shortly after the conclusion of season three.
The story of The Rising of the Shield Hero follows Naofumi Iwatani, a second-year college student who stumbles upon a book called “The Record of the Four Holy Weapons" in the town's public library by chance. Upon turning to a blank page, he is abruptly summoned to another world and takes on the mantle of the "Shield Hero." In this realm, where the shield is considered a symbol of wrongdoing, the Shield Hero is unjustly accused of assault by the princess. Left to fend for himself amidst this hostile beginning, Naofumi embarks on a solitary journey, no longer trusting anyone. Can he fulfill his heroic duty and find a way back to his original world in the face of such a daunting start?
