As the era of Ash Ketchum comes to an end with the finale of Pokemon: Aim to Be a Pokemon Master, fans are left wondering whether Pikachu, the series' iconic Pokemon, will continue to be one of the protagonists in the upcoming anime series.

Doubts are answered as the official Japanese Twitter of the Pokemon anime series shared the images of two new characters from the upcoming Pokemon anime series: Friede and his partner Pokemon — Captain Pikachu!

Friede will feature as the Battle Professor who specializes in the field of Pokemon Battles. Both Friede and Captain Pikachu will accompany the protagonists on their adventures. Although we may no longer see Ash's Pikachu, fans can rest assured that the series' trademark Pokemon will live on through a new character.

The upcoming Pokemon animated series set in the Paldea region of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will premiere on April 14 in Japan.
