根据先前已知的消息，《The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt》次世代版本原本是由 Sabre Interactive 进行研发，但后面因某些原因，决定转交回 CDPR 自家的团队负责制作。本次的次世代版本将支持光影追踪、更快的加载速度以及追加一些新功能特性，而原本就已经持有 Playstation 4 / Xbox One 版本的玩家，则可以免费升级次世代版本。
