The Japanese band EGOIST, known for performing theme songs for various popular anime such as Guilty Crown, PSYCHO-PASS, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, and Fate/Apocrypha, has announced that they will disband after their final concerts scheduled for September and October 2023.
The concerts, titled "EGOIST LIVE 2023 Fleeting Ruby 'The Crescendo' 0923 OSAKA" and "EGOIST LIVE 2023 Resonant Indigo 'Echoes of Everternity' 1009 YOKOHAMA", will be held in Osaka and Kanagawa respectively.
Vocalist Chelly also stated that after the conclusion of these concerts, she will step down from her role as the vocalist of EGOIST, leave the agency, and continue her activities under the name "reche" as a solo artist.
EGOIST is a duo composed of the songwriter and composer Ryo from Supercell, and vocalist Chelly. They gained significant recognition in 2011 after performing the ending theme "Departures" for the anime Guilty Crown. They are also known for their association with the image of female protagonist Inori Yuzuriha from the anime.
Upon learning about their decision to disband, Yuki Kaji, the voice actor who voiced the male protagonist Shu Ouma in Guilty Crown, expressed his gratitude and thanked EGOIST for keeping the character Inori alive all these years.
