Developed by Sharkmob AB for PlayStation 5 and PC, the free-to-play third-person vampire-themed battle royale game Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt has announced on its official website that the team will cease development of the game and will stop the sales of in-game microtransactions starting from September 26, 2023. While it is regrettable, Sharkmob AB stated that the team will carry the lessons learnt from this project onto future development endeavors.
The decision behind the project's halt is largely due to the game unable to "reach the critical mass needed to sustain development," as pointed out by the developer. However, the servers will still remain open for fans who want to continue playing the game, and the team intends to maintain the game servers as long as there is an active community of players. They also promised to "ensure that the game continues to be interesting".
More details about their plans to maintain the game will be announced before the next update, which will also be the last patch for the game, as patches released after that will only be related to maintenance.
