近日《最终幻想 16》开发团队核心人员吉田直树、高井浩、前广和丰接受了外媒 FAMITSU 的采访，其中提及到游戏的开发状况，得到的回答是大约 95 %，而关于本作的准确发售日，吉田表示计划在今年晚些再次发布更多信息，并认为不会超过明年夏天。根据此前的消息，仅确定《最终幻想 16》会在 2023 年夏季发售，也就是明年 6 月至 9 月期间。
目前可以猜测，采访中透露的“今年晚些”发布，很大可能会在 12 月 9 日展开的 The Game Awards 2022 上正式揭晓，毕竟这是个最合适的时机，这段期间也已经没有其他发布会举办了。
