Most MOBA games, like Dota 2 and League of Legends, usually feature a top-down perspective gameplay. However, in 2013, Hi-Rez Studios introduced SMITE, a MOBA game that diverges from the norm, featuring third-person action combat as its core gameplay.
Nearly a decade later, the developer has recently unveiled plans for the upcoming sequel, SMITE 2, developed with Unreal Engine 5. The game is crafted to facilitate cross-platform gaming and diverse input methods, such as keyboard and mouse, controllers, and even SteamDeck.
Retaining the essence of the original gameplay, the new installment promises immersive visuals, heightened battles, and innovative modes. It also strives to enhance accessibility for all players, introducing features like automatic item purchases and upgrades, enabling players to concentrate more on combat.
According to latest information, SMITE 2 is expected to commence alpha testing in spring 2024 and will be accessible on platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
