The classic rhythm action game PATAPON was ported to PlayStation 4 a few years ago, allowing many players to replay the classic that was first introduced to PlayStation Portable in 2007. At the recent indie game event BitSummit, Hiroyuki Kotani, the designer of PATAPON, announced a spiritual successor to the series called RATATAN, which was previously teased as Project JabberWocky by the Tokyo Virtual Theory team.
Based on the current available information, RATATAN will be led by Hiroyuki Kotani, with Nelnal as the illustrator, and Kenmei Adachi (also worked on PATAPON) as the composer. The game's content is expected to be richer compared to PATAPON, with the classic rhythm action gameplay being continued while incorporating various new elements, including more randomness and fresh mechanics, as well as introducing new characters.
RATATAN is scheduled to launch its Kickstarter campaign on August 1. Specific details regarding the platforms, release date, and other aspects have not been confirmed yet.
