Originally written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Oh!great, The manga series Bakemonogatari has officially come to an end in the 15th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine released today. The series had been serialized for five years since 2018.
Oh! great took to his personal Twitter account to share his thoughts on the ending, stating that he couldn't remember the first time he met Nisio-sensei but he did recall Nisio-sensei doing a great impression of Hirohiko Araki, while Oh! great was still working on Tenjho Tenge. It was a surprise to Oh! great that they would eventually work together on Bakemonogatari. While the original series continues to develop, the manga version has come to a close.
The plot of Bakemonogatari revolves around a high school student named Koyomi Araragi, who one day in May, learns about a secret of his classmate, Hitagi Senjougahara, who he had never spoken to before. The secret is that she has almost no weight to her body. After learning this secret, Koyomi is threatened by Hitagi in a very grotesque way during after-school hours, and she demands that he keep the secret. Koyomi, however, requests that she work with him to solve the problem. According to Hitagi, she encountered a strange crab two years ago, which took away almost all of her weight. However, it seems that Koyomi himself had experienced a similar phenomenon before.
