Players who are into the shooting game CS:GO are likely aware that in-game weapon skins, gloves, knives, and other equipment are virtual items that can be traded. Apart from buying and selling on the Steam marketplace, these items are also commonly used for gambling. There are numerous websites that offer such gambling options, and many streamers even promote and endorse these platforms to attract more participants to the betting scene.
According to Dexerto's report, Twitch has recently updated its community guidelines to explicitly prohibit the promotion of any CS:GO skin gambling websites. Interestingly, last month, a YouTuber named HOUNGOUNGAGNE found out that up to 75% of the top 300 CS:GO streamers on Twitch accepted sponsorships from skin gambling websites. However, as of now, most of these streamers have not removed the sponsorships/advertisements, so the effectiveness of the official crackdown remains to be seen.
