根据官方透露，该续作电影将由照明娱乐公司创始人兼首席执行官 Chris Meledandri 和任天堂代表董事宫本茂 Shigeru Miyamoto 担任制片人；并由 Aaron Horvath 和 Michael Jelenic 担任导演；以及 Matthew Fogel 负责担任编剧。而《超级马力欧兄弟大电影》续作也将由环球影业和任天堂共同出资，以及由环球影业在全球院线发行。
