在去年就有传闻指出，曾制作过《Destruction AllStars》的开发商 Lucid Games 正在研发《Twisted Metal》系列重启作，而最近外媒 VCG 透过消息人士爆料得知，目前这个项目已经停止，并转手交给 SIE 欧洲第一方工作室负责继续研发，但目前 Lucid Games & SIE 都未对此作出任何回应。
据说，本次 SIE 打算在 2023 年即将上映的同名电视剧，让《Twisted Metal》游戏重启作能够配合同步推出，至于为什么会撤换原本的 Lucid Games 开发商暂时还未知晓，有人猜测是因为《Destruction AllStars》反响不佳而促成这个决定。以上所述的都还未落实，所以任何准确的消息有待今后官方亲自发表，
